NFPA Roll Cage Protection

In my last blog, I shared with you how the new NFPA 1906 rollover protection system has come about.  I stated that it was almost exclusively due to one manufacturer pushing his safety agenda on the rest of the industry and the fire service.

We displayed a very nice truck at FDIC 2015 this year.  The truck belonged to Sugar Creek Fire Protection, Trenton ILL.  It was very interesting when I mentioned to fire departments visiting our booth about the upcoming standard.  Some were indifferent, and really don’t care.  But a LARGE majority really didn’t care for the idea.  They want trucks that will be a multi-purpose vehicle to respond on medical calls, first responder, car fire, traffic accidents, and OH…..by the way, the occasional wildland fire.  They really didn’t care for the rollover protection system in the walkway as most of the time, at least during the day, they are lucky just to get one person per vehicle.  We provide a bumper mounted remote control nozzle and In Cab Total Pump Controls, which allow you to fight fire from the vehicle in most situations.

In my next blog I will discuss what they new standard is going to mean to you and what it will mean to your budget.

Stay tuned…
